Raf Manji is a principal research fellow at the Institute for Indo-Pacific Affairs and was the 2025 non-resident Senior Fellow at the Asia New Zealand Foundation. He has a background in governance, risk, policy, and strategy and led The Opportunities Party in the 2023 General Election and previously served two terms as a Christchurch City Councillor, focusing on earthquake recovery. Raf has worked in investment banking, environmental impact assessment, and social enterprise. He advised on the Christchurch terror attack fund distribution and has held multiple governance roles. Raf holds degrees in Economics, Political Science, and International Law and Politics from the University of Manchester and the University of Canterbury.
