Alexander C. Tan
Principal Research Fellow & Founder
Alex Tan is the founder and a principal research fellow of the Institute of Indo-Pacific Affairs. He is a Professor of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. His research is focused on contemporary democracies, party politics, and political economy with a focus on East and Southeast Asia.
Nicholas Khoo
Non-Resident Principal Research Fellow
Nicholas Khoo is a non-resident principal research fellow at the Institute for Indo-Pacific Affairs. He is an Associate Professor in the Politics Programme at the University of Otago. His research focuses on Chinese foreign policy, Asian security, security studies, and international relations theory.
Rosalie Arcala-Hall
Non-Resident Principal Research Fellow
Rosalie Arcala-Hall is a non-resident principal research fellow at the Institute for Indo-Pacific Affairs. She is a Professor of Political Science and UP Scientist III at the University of the Philippines at Visayas. Her research focuses on disaster management, water governance, blue economy, maritime security and civil-military relations with a focus on Southeast Asia.
Andrew T.H. Tan
Non-Resident Principal Research Fellow
Andrew T.H. Tan is a non-resident principal research fellow at the Institute for Indo-Pacific Affairs. He was a Professor of Security Studies at Macquarie University, Australia, and was previously at the University of New South Wales and at Kings College London, United Kingdom. He was also a member of the Institute for Defence and Strategic Studies in Singapore (later Rajaratnam School of International Studies) and the Singapore Foreign Service. Andrew has published extensively in the areas of defence, regional and global security, terrorism and insurgency.
Orson Tan
Senior Research Fellow
Orson Tan is a senior research fellow at the Institute for Indo-Pacific Affairs and holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. He specializes in identity politics, ethno-nationalism, regional security and comparative politics in the Indo-Pacific.
Juhn Chris Espia
Non-Resident Senior Research Fellow
Juhn Espia is a non-resident senior research fellow at the Institute for Indo-Pacific Affairs. He is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of the Philippines at Visayas and holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. He researches state-civil society relations, disaster studies, public policy, foreign policy and comparative politics in the Indo-Pacific.
Neel Vanvari
Research Fellow
Neel Vanvari is a research fellow at the Institute for Indo-Pacific Affairs and is a PhD candidate at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. He researches on political economy, Indian politics and comparative politics with a focus on South Asia.
Andrea Chloe Wong
Non-Resident Research Fellow
Andrea Chloe Wong is a non-resident research fellow at the Institute for Indo-Pacific Affairs. She holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand and previously served as the Senior Foreign Affairs Research Specialist at the Center for International Relations and Strategic Studies (CIRSS) of the Foreign Service Institute, Philippines. She was also a Senior Lecturer at the College of International Humanitarian and Development Studies in Miriam College, Philippines.
