Alex Tan is executive director and professorial research fellow of the Institute for Indo-Pacific Affairs. He is the founder of the Institute and Professor of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. His research is focused on contemporary democracies, party politics, and political economy with a focus on East and Southeast Asia.
